WCSO receives "Squad of the Year" award from NV Joining Forces Program

WASHOE COUNTY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Staff recently received statewide recognition during this year’s Joining Forces Recognition Conference in October, when the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety presented Washoe County Sheriff’s Office with the prestigious Joining Forces Squad of the Year award.

In addition, the State Office of Traffic Safety awarded the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office an $89,000 grant to fund the Sheriff’s Office participation in Joining Forces events during 2013. The Sheriff’s Office will team up with other area jurisdictions to for 11 Joining Forces events between October 2012 and September of 2013.

Joining Forces is a high visibility, multi-jurisdictional program that enforces the traffic laws of designated focus areas such as DUI, distracted driving, seat belts, speed, and pedestrian safety.
