RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The Western Nevada State Peace Officer Academy is honoring 18 students from throughout the region who have completed their studies and are ready to protect and serve in a variety of Western Nevada communities.
The cadets successfully completed the rigorous, 30.5-credit program over the past seven months, and are now eligible to take the Peace Officer Standards and Training exam.
2012 graduates include:
Carson City - Jose Garcia, Jason Gwinn, Bradley Harris, Ceajay Hoagland, Michael Santoyo, Christopher Sieben, Johnathan Stone;
Fernley - Krystina Jones; Minden - Floyd Miller;
Reno - Joseph Fedeliz, Lizzeth Lopez, Matthew McMullen, Dulce Obregon, Roderick Stallings, Brett Zolkos;
Sparks - Stanley Glowniak;
Stagecoach - Arthur Drew;
Verdi - Michael Stoker.
Cadets receiving additional honors include: Floyd Miller, Valedictorian; Brett Zolkos, Salutatorian; Ceajay Hoagland, Top Gun Award for competition on the firing range; Roderick Stallings, Top Gun Award for the emergency vehicle operations course; Zolkos and Stallings, Physical Fitness Award; and Arthur Drew, top sharpshooter.
Numerous cadets have already secured jobs with organizations in Northern Nevada, including the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, Storey County Sheriff’s Office, Nevada Department of Public Safety, Parole and Probation Division; and Nevada Department of Corrections.
