LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker says the GOP's next presidential nominee must be someone "from outside Washington."

The Republican says he's not focused on the 2016 race. But he says the nation's governors are better positioned to win the presidency because of their state-based accomplishments.

Walker was the first of three potential presidential candidates to address the Republican Jewish Coalition's annual gathering in Las Vegas on Saturday. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Ohio Gov. John Kasich were set to speak later in the day.

The GOP officials are jockeying for an early advantage with top donors ahead of the 2016 election. No donor is more sought after than Sheldon Adelson. The 80-year-old Boston native owns the Venetian resort casino that hosted the conference.
