SPARKS, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The Sparks and Reno Police Department have apprehended a man who was wanted in Reno.
According to a press release, just before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sparks Police officers responded to a call of an unwanted subject in the 100-block of East Devere Way. As officers were approaching the residence, the unwanted subject got into a vehicle and fled the scene at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the suspect for a short distance, but due to heavy traffic, the pursuit was terminated.
The initial call indicated that the unwanted subject was identified as 35-year-old Reno resident Michael James Dragos. A records check revealed that Dragos had a $50,000 cash-only warrant issued out of Reno Justice Court. Phone contact was established with Dragos later in the evening, and officers attempted to pursuade Dragos to turn himself in, but he would not.
Information was received around 8 p.m. that the suspect may be in the area of Winco on Northtowne Lane in Reno. Both Sparks Police and Reno Police officers responded to check the area. A man was seen in front of the Winco store who appeared similar in description to Dragos. When officers tried to contact him, he ran. After a short foot pursuit, Dragos was taken into custody.
Dragos was booked into the Washoe County Jail on a charge of felony eluding on the Sparks case, as well as the Reno warrant. His bail is in excess of $70,000.
