RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- In a recent statement, Washoe County Commission Chair David Humke commented on Nevada becoming a finalist for “gigafactory” site.

“Thursday, Tesla announced that the company has broken ground in northern Nevada on a site that could potentially be the location for the new multi-billion dollar gigafactory. The Washoe County Commission and staff are excited about the many positive economic indicators for our region, and have been promoting the numerous benefits this region offers to industries looking to relocate to northern Nevada. The news today about Tesla is an affirmation of how well this region can compete nationally and internationally to attract these types of economic development opportunities.

“This has been a wonderful team effort by the State of Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development, Nevada counties, the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN), and our business and education partners. We’re excited about the possibility of Tesla coming to Northern Nevada and the potential benefits to our workforce and our community,” Humke said.

Yep. USA Parkway in Storey County however, I'd assume that a good portion of the expected 6500 tech and manufacturing jobs would most likely come out of Washoe County (Reno/Sparks). There would also be a build-up in Fernley I would imagine. In any case, the positive economic impact to our communities is significant if we don't blow it. When companies look to relocate one thing they look at is the local education system. With the instability created by the bonehead Trustees in the WCSD, that surely creates a negative check in the Nevada column. I hope Tesla comes here. It would be really good for Northern Nevada.

Why is Humke talking, isn't this area off USA Parkway in Storey County?
