RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The Washoe County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday night and approved an updated agreement on the Annual Operating Plan for Washoe County, Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, and the U.S. Forest Service.

The most significant change is the addition of the WCSO Raven helicopter to help fire crews when battling a wildfire. Also, the Mogul fire station is scheduled to open in June.

Commissioners also voted to move the Washoe County Regional Animal Services as a stand-alone department, and will report to the County Manager's office. The Washoe County Sheriff's Office has managed Animal Services since 2012, and Assistant County Manager Kevin Schiller said he is very confident they will do well as a stand-alone department.

Commissioners expressed interest in creating an Animal Advisory Board, made up of community members. Schiller said they will bring the suggestion back for discussion at a future board meeting.
