RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- As part of Healthy Living Week, the Washoe County Health District and numerous community partners will host the fifth annual Obesity Forum on Thursday, September 19, at the UNR Joe Crowley Student Union.
The goal of the event is to educate individuals and motivate organizations to support efforts to prevent and reduce obesity. A registration fee of $40 ($25 for students) includes access to the full day of presentations and activities, a continental breakfast, lunch and continuing education credits.
The 2013 Forum will focus on community and clinical approaches to preventing obesity. There will be presentations on the latest science related to obesity prevention and treatment, local data, and strategies to address the problem. Topics that will be covered at the forum include:
• Obesity and the Epidemic of Diabetes
• Raising a Healthy Eater in a Fast Food World
• Fitness and Weight in Special Populations
• Evaluation of the Paleolithic Diet
• Treatment of Obesity: Medicine, Diet and Surgery
