RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- According to Nevada Newsmakers host Sam Shad Washoe County District Attorney Richard "Dick" Gammick will not run for re-election.
Gammick will remain the DA for the next 20 months. Shad says Gammick will nominate Chris Hicks, current assistant DA, as the next DA.
Both Gammick and Hicks will be appear on Nevada Newmakers at 12:30 on Tuesday directly following News 4 at Noon.
A little history on Gammick according to the Washoe County website.
"After being hired by Mills Lane serving 10 years as a Deputy District Attorney and Chief Deputy District Attorney, Richard A. "Dick" Gammick was elected the Washoe County District Attorney in 1994.
Dick was a Reno Police Officer, a Major in the United States Army, with a combat tour in Vietnam, and Nevada Army National Guard, and a legal adviser for the Reno Police Department as a Deputy Reno City Attorney. Dick has a B.S. from UNRaccounting and a law degree from McGeorge School of Law. A Nevada native from Elko, he married a lady from Texas in 1968 while serving on active duty in the U.S. Army as an Aviator. Dick and Norma raised a son and a daughter and have two grandchildren."
