RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Months and months go into preparing for Election Day and with a somewhat light turnout for early voting, registrar officials are hoping for a surge of voters to hit the polls.

This isn't always ideal for you, as the voter, so News 4's Alyx Sacks has some last minute advice before heading out. Officials say the best time to hit the polls is mid-morning or mid-afternoon. If you do choose to go right at 7 a.m. when doors open, or right at before 7 p.m. tonight when they close, you may run into some unwanted lines.

First thing's first, know where you are polling from because you must go to your designated polling station. You can do that by looking at the information on the back of your sample ballot, or you can head to the registrar's website.

The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
