CARSON CITY, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Due to recent weather, The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has cancelled the 12th Annual National Night Out in Mills Park, set for Tuesday, August 5th at 5 p.m.
"It has been determined that with our current ground saturation from the rain, the quantity of “heavy” public safety vehicles, aircraft and equipment that was scheduled to be on the grassy area of the park would cause irreparable damage," Sheriff Ken Furlong stated in a recent press release. "Further, at this late hour, there is insufficient time to orchestrate a reasonable relocation of the event location."
The press release went on to say "the Carson City community is fortunate to have such a fantastic, centrally located, family recreational area that is enjoyed year round by everyone for picnics and sporting events alike. To damage the park whatsoever is just not an option."
Sheriff Ken Furlong apologized for any inconvenience.
