NBC reports that the White House has approved a plan that would require future cars and trucks be equipped with "black boxes."
The majority of vehicles produced today already have similar recording boxes onboard and they have aided in recent investigations, but some are saying that the recording devices are an invasion of privacy.
This comes after a failed attempt to pass similar legislation in 2010.
Final regulations are expected to follow early next year.
