RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The site of the old Fitzgerald Hotel in downtown Reno has gone through its fair share of renovations in years past. Last year, the new owners settled on a name for the property, Whitney Peak. Now, the hotel is partnering with one of Reno's well-known chefs.

Set to open in just two short months, Heritage is the new restaurant located inside the Whitney Peak Hotel, and it is taking a lot of risks. News 4 was the first to get a look inside what promises to be a restaurant that is unlike anything downtown Reno has ever seen.

"This is our open kitchen area that'll have an entrance point from Virginia Street," said Whitney Peak General Manager Rob Hendricks.

It may not look like much now, but soon, the restaurant will soon be home to downtown Reno's newest culinary destination. "We've assembled probably the most talented team that I've ever worked with," said Hendricks. "Having (a) chef come and join our team just really puts the exclamation point on what we're here to do which is something completely unique something that's never been done before."

That chef is Mark Estee, the man behind Campo, Chez Louis and now his newest venture, Heritage. "Chef Estee liked the project, it's a real innovative and unique project," said Hendricks. "It has the potential to really showcase all the change that's going on downtown, that we think we're the epicenter for."

Heritage, a 4,000 square-foot restaurant, will be located inside the Whitney Peak Hotel. It will feature craft beers, local wines and locally harvested food. One thing that will not impact Heritage's ambiance is gambling. Whitney Peak will be gaming-free.

"Showcasing the natural beauty of the area, and the local cuisine, the farm to table. Really, the best there is of the outside and bringing that in, is something I don't think anyone done before and there's a real need for it," said Hendricks.

In addition to Heritage, the Whitney Peak Hotel will also feature a concert venue and a 7,000 square-foot indoor boulder park. Whitney Peak is set to open some time this spring. For more information, head to the Whitney Peak website.

How many times are they going to do something "unique and interesting" before they just give up? What is this, the third or fourth attempt??
