Reno, NV – The Nevada women’s basketball team overcame an 11-point halftime deficit to top visiting Boise State 75-70 on senior night at Lawlor Events Center.

With their 12th Mountain West win of the season, the Wolf Pack (17-11, 12-5 MW) are tied with Fresno State for second place in the league standings. A win in the regular season finale at UNLV would guarantee at least the third seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

Nevada, trailing 44-33 at halftime, used 50 percent shooting in the second half to outscore the Broncos (16-12, 11-6 MW) by a 42-26 margin. Junior Kelsey Kaelin provided the Pack with their first lead of the game after hitting a mid-range jumper that put her team ahead 48-47 with 12:28 to play.

After going 0-for-5 from behind the three-point line in the opening half, the Wolf Pack rolled to 5-for-8 shooting from beyond the arc in the second half. With the team clinging to a four-point lead with under three minutes to play, Nevada got a clutch three-pointer from senior Amber Smith to extend the lead to 71-64.

As time on the clock ticked to under the one minute mark, Boise State’s Miquelle Askew connected on a layup that brought her team to within three. On the ensuing inbound, Terilyn Moe drew the foul and hit a pair of free throws that extended the lead back to five.

The Broncos once again cut their deficit to three points on a jumper by Keiahnna Engel. Another successful foul shot by Moe, however, made it a two possession game with 13 seconds left, ultimately sealing the win for Nevada.

Free throws proved to be the difference maker in the contest as Nevada hit 18, compared to Boise State’s 13, allotting for the five-point differential in the final score. The Wolf Pack won the battle on the boards as well, outrebounding the Broncos 48-32.

Danika Sharp and Emily Burns each finished with 13 points and two three-pointers. Arielle Wideman also scored in double figures, tallying 11 in the game. Mimi Mungedi fell two points shy of her fifth career double-double, finishing with eight points and 13 rebounds.

Nevada travels to Las Vegas this Friday (March 7) for the regular season finale against rival UNLV at 5 p.m. The game will be broadcast at NevadaWolfPack.tv on the Mountain West Network. Don Marchand will also have the call on the new home of the Wolf Pack women’s basketball team, KFOY 1060 AM, NBC Sports Radio.
