MINDEN, Nev. (AP) -- A former church bookkeeper has been sentenced to a year in jail as part of her probation for embezzling tens of thousands of dollars from the church over eight years.
District Judge Michael Gibbons sentenced 45-year-old Tracey L. Taylor of Carson City, to a suspended six year prison term and placed her on five years' probation.
Besides jail time, the Record-Courier (http://bit.ly/SBGoON ) reports she is to pay more than $152,000 in restitution to Corpus Christi Catholic Church and perform 200 hours of community service.
In exchange for her guilty plea, Taylor will not be charged in Carson City, where the church was located before moving to Douglas County in 2009.
Taylor also taught for eight years at St. Teresa of Avila grade school in Carson City.
