Woman arrested after downtown stabbing incident

RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- A woman is behind bars following a stabbing at a downtown motel.

According to a press release, the Reno Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing around 8 p.m. on Wednesday at a motel in the 300-block of West Second Street. They found a 50-year old man with at least one stab wound to the chest.

The victim's girlfriend, identified as 36-year-old Heather Claire Gallagher, initially told officers the man was stabbed by another man who ran away. During the investigation, officers realized Gallagher had allegedly stabbed the victim, who was taken to the Renown Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Gallagher was placed under arrest and booked on charges of Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Domestic Battery. If you have any information, you are asked to call Secret Witness at 322-4900.
