I got a ticket from RPD (fought and won) for straying in the bike lane while riding my 49cc scooter. I wear a full face helmet, but do not carry registration nor insurance. Aerodynamics and horsepower limit my speed to 35 mph, therefore I stay off streets that are 45 mph+ (e.g. McCarran). Like bicycles, red lights are a challenge due to the sensors? in the street not activating. With gas now permanently at $4 / gallon, we have to be creative when it comes to using resources, trouble is Reno is not quite ready for this. Everyday brings a close call and an adventure, but like a bicycle I try my best to be courteous on the road, as physics is not on my side.

these mopeds are a "loophole" as to safety (helmet) and insurance, license, etc. They should at least stay in the bike lane (which unfortunately many vehicle drivers use for 'cornering').

Its sad someone lost there life. But so many people run this light all the time. I have called and reported to the police department. Every time I am at this light people are running the red light.
