Woman dies after husband loses control of vehicle, hits her

TRUCKEE, Calif. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- A woman has died in Truckee after her husband lost control of his vehicle while backing his boat and trailer into a driveway.

According to California Highway Patrol, yesterday around 1:30p,70-year-old Larry Kaufmann was preparing to back his boat into a driveway of a private residence. His wife, 68-year-old Carol Kaufmann, was helping him with verbal instructions when Larry lost control of the car, and it hit Carol. Carol died from blunt force trauma, according to CHP.

Alcohol and drugs were not considered to be contributing factors, according to CHP.

Very sad, and I agree with Speed: accidents happen. However, I have another point: journalistically when did the trend start with referring to people in a news story in the familiar tense — by their given ("first") name rather than their "last" (i.e., surname)?

Hard enough but it's MUCH harder,blaming yourself. I hope he'll get counseling and learn to survive his loss without judging himself too harshly,accidents happen.
