CARSON CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - The call from Crystal Sexton's daughter's Carson Middle School came as a complete shock.

“I've been in tears the last couple of days. I can't sleep. I'm worried about her,” Sexton said.

District leaders said 14-year-old Brianna was tased because the Sheriff’s school resource female deputy couldn't restrain the cheerleader while the teen was being arrested for disrupting the classroom.

“This is a bigger woman, and if she cannot handle a teenage child, then she should not be a police officer,” Sexton said.

Superintendent Richard Stokes is launching an internal investigation, but he has faith staff did the right thing.

“They're very competent professionals. I have full trust in their actions,” he said.

The mom of the tased teen does say her daughter was already on probation at the time for playing with a lighter and accidently starting a small fire in a field.

“She's a typical teenage yeah, they talk back, but she is really a good kid,” Sexton said.

The family has filed a formal complaint against the deputy - and the Sheriff's office hopes to complete their review quickly in an effort to take the sting out of this situation for both sides.

Are you guys kidding me! Your kids are perfect right? Just wait! She's a kid!!! Officers are trained for this, trained to handle grown men, but this officer couldnt control a kid. Thats BS. Wether the kid has problems or not this was exsessive.

She's a good girl? She's 14 and already on probation. What is this mom teaching her child? My son is in middle school and knows there are consequences. The worst thing for this kid would be for her mom to homeschool her. She'd never get an education for that mom. Sad story there.

So if you don't baa baa like the rest of the sheep you get tased? Classy. This is why we homeschool our kids, so they can be kids and not the submissive drones of a police state. More kids need to "disrupt" their classrooms, and more classrooms need to be open to disruption, instead of criminalizing it.

The comments above are correct. Your daughters lack of respect for authority was learned at home and displayed in school. I truly believe the deputy acted correctly given the circumstances. On a different note, sheriff is spelled incorrectly in the article.

The police are not required to be able to handle a subject that in this case has other behavioral and obvious prior disciplinary issues at hand. The situation escalated quickly and the the cops have levels of force mommy that your wild child forced upon herself that resulted in her being tased which by the way is what she deserved. You did not teach your kid to respect authority and it seems this is exactly what your 14 year old needs. Use this situation as a teaching experience or I will be reading about your teen in more serious run ins with immaturity and possibly violations of law.

Poor Mom, you have a kid you can't control and you expect the school to do it for you? Expel her and let Mom home school her. Then she'll understand what the problem is.
