RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - A new political endorsement is making some people uneasy because it's supposed to go out in the same envelope as your paycheck. The paper reads clearly at the top, “vote for these Chamber endorsed candidates.” Following that are 21 names of mostly Republicans, a few democrats and several non-partisan people.

2,500 local businesses received the lists to hand out from the Sparks-Reno Chamber of Commerce which says they never meant it to be threatening.

“Employees should take it seriously. Their boss has their best interest in mind. And their company's best interest in mind,” Tray Abney of The Chamber said.

Nevada's secretary of state's office said they needed more information before weighing in on this particular candidate endorsement, but general slate cards, as they're called, are legal unless they come with a direct threat to your job.

Can we get a list of te employers who followed this act of subtil intimidation??? Then the commuity can not trade with them. Suggesting that the work force is not smart enough to make their own decision and their employer kows whats best for them. With the culture and mindset of business owners being. Keep the workforce small so my profit margins are higher and support the right beacuse God Romney and son Ryan say it is right

The paycheck inserts were not threatening in any way. I received the endorsement list from the Chamber and tossed it. No retribution from the Chamber came of it. If I had slipped them into the paychecks for my employees I still would not know how those employees ultimately voted. All I would know for sure is that the employees would have had an opportunity to see how our Chamber of Commerce felt about each candidate. How is that threatening? Reality is, the Chamber most likely put a lot more energy into researching each candidate than any of my employees did. It probably would have been a huge service to each of them. Most people vote based on TV ads. Now I feel bad about not putting those inserts into the paycheck envelopes.

This is completely outrageous and should be ILLEGAL. The "chamber" should be ashamed of themselves, and PUNISHED. It SOUNDS "threatening", and they SHOULD be NON-PARTISAN. Wow, the lengths the Republicans will GO TO, this should be enough to show everyone how shady they are. Thanks, now I'll vote EVEN MORE against your backwards-ASSES! My God, what has this country come to?
