RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - With those cold temperatures local law enforcement wants to warn you about a safety hazard. Despite warning signs posted at Virginia Lake, they are still receiving several 911 calls about people walking on the ice.
With-in just about five minutes on scene, News 4 cameras even captured two people crossing the ice Wednesday. And not only is it dangerous, it's also criminal.
“There's a current in there where ice is going to be thinner in some places and thicker in others and you can't recognize that,” Reno Fire Battalion Chief Bob Knoll said. “It's very unsafe to go out on the ice and it happens to be against city municipal code.”
