VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - A former Storey County commissioner is out on a $10,000 bond after being arrested for assault charges.
According to the Sheriff's office, Greg Hess, better known as “Bum,” was picked up Friday night after an incident at a high school basketball game in Virginia City. The sheriff’s office has identified the alleged victim has been identified as 18-year-old Kody Burrell.
Kody's parents say an attorney has advised them not to do an interview, but they say the former county commission attacked their son by choking him for about 45 seconds before someone else stepped in.
His mom adds that Hess appeared intoxicated and quote, "probably would of killed my son if he wasn't pulled away." They add Kody was not badly injured but his parents say he did turn some funny colors and faint. There is no idea from the family what could of provoked it all.
