REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) — A California man with a lengthy criminal record has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for stealing a former district attorney's wallet.

Prosecutors say 24-year-old Andrew Michael Jonke knocked on the door of former San Mateo County top prosecutor Keith Sorenson last year and said he needed to retrieve an errant baseball in the backyard.

The following day, Sorenson noticed his wallet was missing.

Investigators say Jonke racked up about $1,000 in credit card charges.

The San Jose Mercury News (http://bit.ly/WIKenD ) says Jonke pleaded no contest to felony theft, felony residential burglary and felony possession of stolen property.

He was sentenced Thursday to 11 years in prison. The lengthy prison sentence was based on three previous residential burglaries.
