ENCINITAS, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say two San Diego County sheriff's deputies are injured and a suspect is barricaded inside a home.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Melissa Aquino says witnesses heard what sounded like gunfire or an explosion around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Encinitas but that it's unclear how the two deputies were hurt or how severe their injuries are. One of them has been taken to a hospital.
The deputies were investigating a car theft that was reported more than two hours earlier. Aquino says the suspect is inside a home in Encinitas, a coastal suburb north of San Diego.
