LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles County authorities have arrested two boot camp instructors for allegedly hitting three kids, ages 9 to 16, at a discipline camp.
In a release Wednesday, sheriff's officials say 180 Recon instructors Edgar Alvarado and Ruben Romero have been arrested and await charges.
Detectives say the two are accused of continuously hitting a 9-year-old boy, a 12-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl. One of the girls is also alleging Alvarado inappropriately touched her.
The camp did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The camp's website says the program uses a paramilitary structured setting to turn around the lives of troubled teens who have been involved in drugs, law-breaking or bad behavior. The camp's training facility is in the Angeles Crest Mountains and it's headquartered in East LA.
