LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say two innocent bystanders trying to sell a car were caught in the crossfire during an officer-involved shooting in Las Vegas last week.
Officer Jose Hernandez says one man is in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the shoulder, while a woman received minor injuries in the shooting last Friday near Clark High School.
Authorities say the two were showing a car to 33-year-old Roberto Antonio Torres, who was suspected of shooting his girlfriend in the face.
Hernandez says that when officers spotted him, Torres fired on them, and they fired back.
Officials say Torres died of multiple gunshot wounds to the back.
Police say 34-year-old Officer Joseph E. Parra and 50-year-old Officer Scott A. Thomas have been placed on paid administrative leave as the investigation continues.
