RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Two men have been charged with killing three members of a Riverside County household whose bodies were found in their burned home eight years ago.

The district attorney's office says Robert Pape and Cristin Smith, both 25, appeared in court Wednesday for arraignment on three counts of murder with allegations that each personally used a firearm in two of the killings.

Authorities say Pape was the boyfriend of 18-year-old Becky Friedli, who was killed along with her mother, Vicki Friedli, and Vicki's boyfriend, Jon Hayward, in Pinyon Pines.

Both men were charged in a grand jury indictment unsealed Wednesday but Smith's name was removed because he was a juvenile at the time, and he was instead charged directly by prosecutors.

Smith pleaded not guilty but Pape's arraignment was postponed.
