OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Two men have been convicted of first-degree murder and gang enhancements in a drive-by shooting that killed a 3-year-old boy in Oakland.

An Alameda County jury returned guilty verdicts on Monday against 29-year-old Lawrence Curtis Denard and 25-year-old Willie Torrence. The two men were also convicted of attempted murder and gang enhancements in the August 2011 attack.

Carlos Nava was with his family outside an east Oakland strip mall when he was struck in the neck by a stray bullet intended for two men nearby. Authorities say Denard fired the shots that killed Carlos and wounded two alleged gang rivals.

Torrence was allegedly driving the car.
