LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada Highway Patrol investigators are trying to determine whether a car stalled or cut in front of a tractor-trailer that plowed into it on Interstate 15, killing a man and a woman just south of Las Vegas.
Trooper Jeremie Elliott says the truck driver reported that he never saw the four-door Nissan sedan before hitting it about 8:30 p.m. Monday on the southbound freeway just past St. Rose Parkway in Henderson.
The car was destroyed and the female driver and a male passenger were pronounced dead. Their names weren't immediately made public.
The trucker received minor injuries when the rig hauling plastic storage containers ended up on its side. He wasn't identified.
Elliott says the crash happened on a slight uphill, and it didn't appear that the truck was speeding.
