SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Santa Ana police say two people inside a stolen car have been shot and wounded by officers after a brief freeway chase.
Cpl. Anthony Bertagna says the shooting occurred Friday afternoon, soon after the car got off an Interstate 5 exit and crashed.
Both suspects dashed out of the car and Bertagna says that's when the shooting occurred.
Bertagna says the two officers involved in the shooting have not been interviewed, so details of what happened, such as whether the suspects were armed, remain unclear.
The suspects were taken to Western Medical Center where they are in serious but stable condition.
The officers were not injured.
