SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say two brothers and their cousin, all teenagers, died in a crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Sonoma County.

The California Highway Patrol tells the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat on Monday that 18-year-old driver Jhovani Gonzalez-Marquez and his 14-year-old brother Aron Gonzalez-Marquez died in the early Sunday crash. Their 17-year-old cousin Jason Marquez died Sunday night at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

CHP Sgt. Allan Capuro says the three had been to a birthday party near their home in Gualala in Mendocino County Saturday night.

He says they had driven someone home and were returning to Gualala when their 1996 Acura spun off the road, flipped and smashed into a tree.

Investigators were trying to learn how the boys spent their last hours and whether the driver had been drinking.
