FALLON, Nev. (AP) — A Utah woman has published a book about a three-decade search for her family roots that culminated in Fallon this week with a meeting with a half-brother and half-sister she never knew she had.
Perline Porter of Ogden told KTVN-TV in Reno she always wondered who her biological father was because she had a baby book with another man's name on it.
Throughout her childhood, her mother denied she had another dad but fessed up when she was 17.
She stared searching back then but made little progress until she joined websites specializing in DNA information.
Porter eventually tracked down the brother, John Collins Jr. of San Diego, who traveled to Utah to take her to Fallon to meet his sister, Carey. Her book is titled "My DNA Search for My Roots."
