NEW YORK (AP) — The third law enforcement officer injured in a Manhattan shootout is getting out of the hospital.

The NYPD says Detective Mario Muniz is expected to leave Bellevue Hospital around noon Wednesday.

Police Commissioner William Bratton has said the detective's protective vest may have saved his life.

Two wounded U.S. marshals have already gone home from the hospital.

The suspect was killed during Monday's shootout in bustling Greenwich Village. Authorities say the California man had skipped town after being accused of molesting a boy.
