LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say an 86-year-old woman was fatally struck by a car while crossing a Las Vegas street.
Authorities say the crash happened just before 11 a.m. Monday on Lake Mead Boulevard, east of Rampart Boulevard.
Witnesses say the woman was crossing the street outside a crosswalk while a Chevy HHR was leaving a private driveway. Police say the woman was struck after the Chevy turned and entered a travel lane.
The woman was taken to University Medical Center and later died of her injuries. Her name has not yet been made public.
The 59-year-old driver of the Chevy was not injured.
The death marks the eighth traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas police jurisdiction this year.
