The Associated Press Radio Television Association has awarded its Clete Roberts/Kathryn Dettman Memorial Scholarship to California State University Fresno student Dayana Contreras.

"Of all this year's entries for the APTRA scholarship, Dayana stood out because of her passion for the medium," said APTRA board president John Schaffer. "She's interned in both radio and TV and it is my hope that the scholarship money will help her pursue her dream of a career in broadcasting."

Dayana is majoring in Mass Communications and Journalism with an emphasis in broadcasting at CSU Fresno. "My passion for broadcasting ignited as I graduated high school," she said. "I found my love for the industry and am now on a mission to live out a dream."

The scholarship is named for veteran Southern California broadcast journalist Clete Roberts and former AP writer and reporter Kathryn Dettman.
