RENO, Nev. (AP) — Investigators say an abandoned campfire sparked a small brush fire in Verdi.
The fire broke out around 4 a.m. Tuesday and was quickly contained by firefighters with the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District.
The fire burned about two acres near Dog Valley Road and Hill Lane in Verdi, a small community west of Reno along Interstate 80.
No structures were burned and no injuries were reported.
Officials warn that despite recent rain, vegetation across the region remains dry and highly susceptible to fire.
