Alpine County to celebrate 150 years

MARKLEEVILLE, Calif. (KRNV & Mynews4.com) -- Alpine County, situated just south of Lake Tahoe, marks the 150th anniversary of its founding beginning this March.

The Alpine County 150th Ad Hoc committee and Alpine County Supervisor Donald Jardine have scheduled commemorative events, beginning with a proclamation reading on March 18, 2014 at Turtle Rock Park on Highway 89. The proclamation will be followed by a luncheon at noon at the Alpine County Early Learning Center on 100 Foothill Road on Highway 88. Invited guests are Terry Wardley, staff member with California State Senator Ted Gaines, and Dana Jorgensen, staff member with Assembly Member Frank Bigelow.
