MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say they have arrested a 21-year-old parolee 10 days after a shooting that left a 6-year-old girl dead and her father wounded at a family gathering in Riverside County.
The Sheriff's Department said in a statement Tuesday that Keandre (kee-AHN'-dray) Narkie Johnson was arrested and booked for investigation of murder and other charges.
The case has been presented to prosecutors.
On Sept. 7, 6-year-old Tiana Ricks and her 26-year-old father Tyrell Ricks Jr. were shot at a home in Moreno Valley northwest of Lake Perris.
The two were taken to a hospital where Tiana was declared dead.
Tiana's killing led to a wide outpouring of anger and sorrow in her community and around Southern California. Hip-hop artists The Game and Snoop Lion both made contributions toward her funeral expenses.
