SPRING CREEK, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say alcohol might have played a factor in a deadly crash on a northeastern Nevada road.
Four people died in the Tuesday night crash on State Route 227 in Spring Creek.
Authorities have identified them as 27-year-old Heston Brock and 25-year-old Caitlin Terry, who were traveling in a Ford Focus. Two passengers in a Ford Expedition, 19-year-old Derick Rimington, and 5-year-old Hailey Layton, both of Spring Creek, also died.
Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Kirt Beach tells the Elko Daily Free Press that troopers found alcohol in the Focus and suspect Brock was impaired. They are awaiting toxicology reports.
Authorities say the driver of the Expedition was making a left turn when it was struck by the Focus. The Expedition overturned, hitting and knocking over a light pole.
Two others were injured.
