SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the death of a 38-year-old Reno man after he was found dead during the weekend in the Truckee River in Sparks.

Sparks fire Battalion Chief Barry Hagen tells the Reno Gazette-Journal that authorities were summoned about 1:35 p.m. Sunday, after a passer-by noticed the man's body floating about 10 feet from the river bank near Fisherman's Park.

That's near Galletti Way and Glendale Avenue.

The man's name wasn't immediately made public.

Police said in a statement that it appeared he entered the river upstream from where he was found, and that he had been dead for several hours.

An autopsy was planned, but police say foul play isn't suspected.
