PALMDALE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say five people were injured when a car collided with a big rig carrying a load of carrots that spilled into lanes in the Antelope Valley.

The California Highway Patrol says the crash took place Monday night in the Lake Los Angeles area.

The big rig overturned and thousands of carrots covered the road. KCBS-TV reports a car got stuck in pile of the vegetable 4 feet deep.

KCBS says five people were transported to a hospital, including two who had to be airlifted.

It was unclear what caused the accident.
