OCEANSIDE, Calif. (AP) — The search for a boater who was reported missing after his dog was found on a San Diego County beach has turned up the man's boat.
U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Henry Dunphy says crews using a pair of helicopters and several boats continue searching for the man Tuesday.
Dunphy says someone walking on the beach in Oceanside Monday afternoon noticed the dog sitting alone on the sand and called the phone number on its collar.
The man's wife answered and reported her husband missing.
The boat, a 21-foot Striper power boat called Lucky Dog, was found about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Dunphy says it's unclear how the dog, a lab mix, got on the beach. The boater's wife said it was unusual for her husband to be without the dog.
