NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Nashville police say a 37-year-old California prison inmate has been indicted on murder charges in the tanning salon deaths of two teenage workers 17 years ago.

The announcement Thursday came one day shy of the anniversary of the stabbing deaths of the 18-year-olds, Tiffany Campbell and Melissa Dawn Chilton.

Police said Patrick Lamonte Streater, who was Campbell's former boyfriend, was charged with two counts of premeditated first-degree murder.

In a news release, police said the women worked at Exotic Tan for Men and that the manager found them stabbed numerous times.

Police said detectives spoke with Streater on Wednesday at the California State Prison, Solano, in northern California, where he is serving a sentence for robbery. It wasn't known when he would return to Nashville.
