TORRANCE, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California helicopter maker has been sued in connection with the deaths of two experienced pilots in 2011.
The Daily Breeze of Torrance (http://bit.ly/14J4DhR ) reports it was the latest lawsuit against Robinson Helicopter Co., by a Los Angeles-based law firm since 2001. Five previous cases were settled out of court.
The wrongful death lawsuit filed last month claims manufacturing defects including the tendency for the main rotor blades to separate. The law firm represented the families of two men who were killed in 2011 in Colombia when their R66 helicopter crashed.
In a statement to the newspaper, the company said it does not comment on pending litigation and stood by the safety and quality of its helicopters.
