CORTE MADERA, Calif. (AP) — Authorities in Northern California say a man faces child endangerment charges after accidentally setting his apartment on fire while making drugs with his two young children at home.

Central Marin Police arrested 29-year-old Brian Holland of Corte Madera late Saturday on suspicion of child endangerment and manufacturing a controlled substance.

Investigators say that Holland was attempting to convert marijuana into a wax form, which is becoming more popular for its high potency.

Holland was later treated at a local hospital for a minor arm burn and then booked into the Marin County Jail.

Police say Holland's two young children, a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old, were asleep but were not harmed by the fire that scorched the living room carpet.

It is not known whether Holland has retained an attorney. He's scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 21.
