CASTAIC, Calif. (AP) — A possibly armed Southern California woman has barricaded herself inside her mobile home and is engaged in a standoff with sheriff's deputies.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Joshua Dubin says a 44-year-old woman who was walking Wednesday morning in a Castaic trailer park brandished a handgun and forced a stranger to drive her to her mobile home.

She left the car without harming the driver, who later alerted authorities to what happened.

Dubin says deputies arrived at the trailer park at around 10 a.m. and have been trying to peacefully coax the woman outside.

Neighbors in the immediate area have been evacuated.
