SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California's campaign finance watchdog agency has begun posting online the names of political campaign treasurers who have been sanctioned more than twice for violating reporting rules.
The Fair Political Practices Commission posted the names of four treasurers on its website Friday.
Among them is Kinde Durkee, the former treasurer to many high-profile California Democrats. She was sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison after she admitted stealing money from clients and shifting money between their bank accounts.
Attorneys for the lawmakers reached a settlement this week that calls for the bank Durkee used to pay $4 million to replace some of the lost campaign money.
The treasurers listed on the FPPC website have worked for members of the state Legislature and Congress.
