LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities have called off the search for a missing college student at a lake in northern Los Angeles County but his parents haven't given up hope of finding him.
The Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/16aaYtb ) says the parents of 19-year-old Bryce Laspisa were told Tuesday that authorities are halting the weekslong air, ground and underwater search at Castaic Lake.
However, detectives still are working the case. On a Facebook page, his parents say Laspisa may be confused, troubled or just embarrassed but they still hope to find him.
The Sierra College student vanished late last month while driving to his parents' home in Orange County. His car was found at the lake. A burned body was later found but it turned out to be an unrelated homicide victim.
