CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) — A Cedar City man found by police with blood on his hand is accused of attempted murder and other charges.
Cedar City Police Sgt. Jimmy Roden says officers were called Wednesday morning about an assault at an apartment complex and found 30-year-old Brandon Sappington.
Roden says Sappington had blood on his hand but hid it in his pocked when officers approached and refused to show it.
Police say Sappington tried to kick and head-butt the officers as they tried to arrest him.
Roden tells the Deseret News that a man lying on the sidewalk nearby was flown to University Medical Center in Las Vegas with serious injuries, including a head laceration.
Sappington was booked into Iron County Jail on attempted murder, assaulting an officer, interfering with an arrest and a traffic warrant.
