ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Police are investigating vandalism at two Southern California churches as hate crimes.
Vandals broke into Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church in Arcadia early Wednesday and smashed two religious statues and a DVD player. Several rooms were ransacked but nothing was taken.
Last week, vandals broke into the Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd in Arcadia.
Police say clergy robes were thrown on the ground, a fire extinguisher was discharged and a religious portrait on a wall was set on fire.
A guitar and sound equipment was stolen.
Sgt. Tom Le Veque tells the Pasadena Star-News that detectives aren't sure if the crimes are related.
They are being investigated as religious hate crimes.
