LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Clark County School Board is promoting its second-highest official to fill in for departing Superintendent Dwight Jones.
The board voted Thursday to name Pat Skorkowsky interim superintendent. He'll take over when Jones leaves March 22.
Skorkowsky is a 25-year veteran of Clark County schools and has served as a teacher, principal, and most recently, deputy superintendent.
Skorkowsky grew up in Oklahoma and has a master's degree in educational administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Jones announced last week that he was leaving the district halfway through his four-year contract, saying he needed to take care of his ailing mother in Texas.
